Newborn babies feel the cold much more than we do because unlike us they cannot regulate their body temperature. In the winter months, getting a few winter baby essentials is necessary to keep your little one warm and comfy.
We decided to gather together our favourite Winter Essentials for Baby to help you get prepped. These also make great gifts if you are needing to gift a mommy during the chilly months.
- Winter Swaddle/Sleeping Bag
Many parents swaddle their babies as it can really help them sleep better and is a much safer often than having loose blankets that pose a suffocation risk.
A winter swaddle or sleep bag has a higher TOG rating (2.5) which shows how warm the garment is.

Keep your little one warm after bath time with a cozy hooded towel. Soft and luxurious on their skin and perfect for drying their skin and hair.

- Warm Blanket
Babies need blankets all year round as they cannot regulate their own temperature. In winter swop out those muslin or light cotton blankets for thicket fleece blankets.
A favourite is a wearable blanket like that Zip and Go Blankie from Snuggletime. It can be used as a full sized blanket or zipped up to create a convenient sleep sack that can also be used in a car seat.

- Socks and hats

- Tracksuits

- Chest Rub

- Nasal Aspirator
Another great product for those sick babies is a nasal aspirator. Young babies of course can’t blow their noses and so keeping it clear becomes very important.
Our two favourites are the Nosefrida and the Tommee Tippee Nasal Aspirator. They both work really well, the difference being one is manual and one is electric and thus costs a bit more.

- Thermometer
Stay on top of your baby’s fever with a digital thermometer. It can be incredibly stressful and having an accurate way of measuring it can ensure you know exactly when it’s time to worry or not. It can also be difficult to take the temperature of a fussy baby so a digital one that can take an accurate reading in seconds is a must have.
