Everything you need to know about BIBS dummies!

BIBS dummies are hands down the most stylish dummies available! Loved by both mums and babies, they’re a must-have for every parent.

Available in a wide range of colors to match any outfit, BIBS dummies feature a natural rubber teat, making them ideal for both breastfed and bottle-fed babies. Here at Lulla-buy, we’re proud to offer these popular dummies, and we’re excited to share everything you need to know about them.

What Makes BIBS Dummies So Special?

The cherry-shaped nipple and lightweight shield of BIBS dummies are designed to mimic the natural shape of a mother’s breast.

Recommended by midwives to support natural breastfeeding, the BIBS dummy’s specific length and shape help ensure that your baby maintains the correct sucking technique at the breast.

The round, lightweight shield is designed to face away from your baby’s face, allowing air to circulate around the sensitive skin near their mouth. As parents, we understand how challenging breastfeeding can be, so this thoughtful design helps to prevent issues like nipple confusion.

Another standout feature of BIBS dummies is their color range! Available in an array of modern, solid colors, these dummies complement any outfit without being overly flashy or adorned with unnecessary prints. Parents and babies alike can’t get enough of them!

What if My Baby Hasn’t Liked Other Dummies?

There’s no guarantee that a baby will take to a specific brand, shape, or style of dummy.

At Lulla-buy, we’re committed to helping parents as much as possible, which is why we offer three different dummy nipple shapes. Each shape has its own benefits, so if your baby doesn’t take to one, they may prefer another.

You can try the round nipple, anatomical nipple, and symmetrical nipple dummies in our ‘Try It Pack’. This set includes one of each, so you can find the perfect fit for your baby without wasting money. Check out the ‘Try It Packs’ [here].

What Size is Best for My Baby?

BIBS dummies come in sizes 1, 2, and 3. It’s essential to choose the size that suits your baby’s age. Using the correct size is not only safer but also ensures the best fit for your baby’s mouth. Here’s a quick guide:

| Size | Baby Age | Teat Length | Cherry Teat Width | Shield Diameter |
|———-|—————–|————-|——————-|—————–|
| Size 1 | 0-6 months | Approx. 2.6 cm | Approx. 1.5 cm | Approx. 4.2 cm |
| Size 2 | 6-18 months | Approx. 3 cm | Approx. 1.5 cm | Approx. 4.2 cm |
| Size 3 | 18 months + | Approx. 3.2 cm | Approx. 2 cm | Approx. 4.2 cm |

It’s important to follow the age guidelines to avoid any issues with your baby’s palate and mouth shape.

How Often Should I Replace Them?

It’s recommended to replace BIBS dummies every 4-6 weeks.

This is standard hygiene practice for any dummy brand. Since BIBS dummies are made from natural latex rubber, you may notice the teat changing shape or size if used beyond the recommended time.

To get the most out of your dummies, rotate them regularly. Don’t use the same dummy for both nighttime and daytime naps. This will extend the life of each dummy, and having a spare will help you notice if the older ones are changing shape.

If you notice any changes in the teat size, it’s time to replace it. This ensures the teat remains safe and hygienic, and your baby will easily transition to a new, same-sized dummy.

Why Does My New Dummy Seem Smaller?

If your new BIBS dummy looks smaller than your old one, it’s likely that the older dummy has been overused and has expanded.

To keep track of when to replace your dummies, consider setting a reminder on your phone for 4 weeks after you start using a new one. This will give you time to order more before they reach their maximum use time.

All BIBS dummies are pre-packaged with the correct size clearly labeled. Always double-check the size before opening the pack.

Why Is There Water in the Teat After Sterilising?

BIBS dummies, like most dummies, have a ‘vented’ teat. This allows air to escape during use, preventing the teat from popping. To remove any water that gets inside during sterilisation, simply squeeze the teat.

Vented teats are safer, as they allow the dummy to mould to your baby’s mouth shape without the risk of bursting.

Why Can’t I Mix and Match Colours?

BIBS dummies are now pre-packaged in packs of two, with the same colour and size in each pack. While we used to offer mix-and-match options, this change was made by the manufacturer.

If you want a variety of colours without buying multiple packs, consider teaming up with a friend to share the colours from each pack.
